This is an elegant piece with a sunny and rustic appeal. I like the impressionist style because it allows your eyes to swim around the image. The composition with the angles of the surfaces of the building accompanied by the swooping stairwell also help keep the eye moving. And I love the organic feel of the front of the staircase.

I have noticed that others who paint in a similar style have great results when they selectively choose colors from close by objects to help them highlight and shade. It often makes an image feel even more alive and have even more depth (even making an image look more realistic). At the moment the piece flows, but it also looks like a collection of objects that you painted at different times. In particular, the top of the image suffers from this lack of depth. It appears that white was used to highlight and brown was used to darken. Where a dark blue might have given the shadows a deeper punch and even a few more selective marks of goldenrod, light blue, or even a deep red may have really unified and further brightened the image.

On the whole the image is very satisfying. It is charming and the hard work really paid off... literally, it appears, since you sold it =)
